At that time the western quadrant of the storm was over the coast near Phu Yen. Public storm warning signal #1 was in effect for the province of Luzon that includes: Palawan and the Calamian Group of Islands. Maximum sustained winds were near 30 knots (34.5 mph/55.5 kph).  Later that day PAGASA hoisted further Signal one's for otber parts of Luzon and raised the Public storm warning from No.1 to No.2 for Cagayan & Isabela  Early the next day PAGASA downgraded Signal No.2 to No.1 for Isabela & hoisted Signal No.2 for Babuyan as well as downgrading some of the No.1 signals for other parts of Luzon  Later that day PAGASA downgraded the signal from No.2 to No.1 for Cagayan and further downgraded some of the other signals. The JTWC also upgraded the depression to a tropical storm that evening..
